Our Commitment

The Progressive Center for Independent Living, Inc. (PCIL) is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive website for people with disabilities. We believe everyone should be able to access information about our programs, services, events, resources, and community activities.

Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility. PCIL works to identify and address barriers as our website, content, and technology change.

Accessibility Standards

PCIL aims to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA wherever reasonably possible. These guidelines explain how to make digital content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Our accessibility efforts may include:

Using clear headings and a logical page structure;
Providing alternative text for meaningful images;
Adding captions or transcripts to video and audio content when available;

Maintaining readable text and sufficient color contrast;
Using descriptive links and form labels;
Avoiding unnecessary motion or flashing content; and
Reviewing new and updated content for accessibility.

Known Limitations

Although PCIL works to make its website accessible, some content may not yet fully meet our accessibility goals. This may include older documents, archived materials, embedded content, third-party forms, social media content, maps, videos, or services provided through external platforms.

Third-party websites and services maintain their own accessibility practices, which PCIL may not control. When possible, we select services that support accessibility and work to provide an alternative way to obtain important information or complete an activity.
