Hillary Freeman is deeply committed to her work representing people with disabilities and their families. She has presented workshops at Schafer's in the past and we welcome her expert advice again. As the sister of a man with autism, she is able to combine personal experience with her legal training to help families advocate for services and supports. She has experience before Administrative agencies and Superior Court in special education issues, higher education issues including accommodations on high stakes testing and graduate school admissions tests, Section 504, guardianship and adult services. She is a member of the American Association for Trial Attorneys, the International Dyslexia Association and Autism New Jersey. She is a member of the Elder and Disability Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar
Association and serves on the Professional Advisory Board of the Learning Disabilities Association of New Jersey and the executive board of ASCEND, the Asperger & Autism Alliance of Greater Philadelphia. She holds a JD from Widener University School of Law and is licensed to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Effective transition from school to adult life requires teams to engage in a collaborative planning process, over several years, as part of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) development. To facilitate this multi-year process, educators need to understand what activities should occur at different points in time. This workshop will present key strategies and activities to make the transition planning process meaningful and consistent with state and federal requirements.
